This summer the Coastal Workforce Development Board (CWDB) will sponsor a region-wide Mayor and County Commissioner Chairman Summer Youth Employment/Internship Program with funding from the US Department of Labor-Employment and Training Administration (USDOL-ETA) and the Technical College System of Georgia (grantors). During the summer of 2020 and 2021, area youth participated in a hybrid work experience model: in-person and virtually, using Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act youth grant funding. Residents ages 16-24 who are currently in- school or out-of-school, meets eligibility requirements, and lives in one of the following counties may participate.

  • Savannah-Chatham
  • Effingham
  • Glynn
  • Liberty
  • Long
  • McIntosh
  • Screven
The program will run from June 6 to August 19. Each participant will be paid up to $15.00 an hour depending on placement for 25-30 hours per week for their eight-to-ten-week work experience/internship. This means each program participant has the potential to earn up to $4,500 this summer.
Each participant will work up to 25-30 hours per week over an eight (8) to ten (10) week period. Of that the initial 20 hours will be spent completing employment readiness training activities before placement with an employer.
